WATLINGTON HOUSE
The Watlington House Trust was founded in 1929 by a group of local architects to oversee and ensure the preservation of the historical building for the benefit of future generations through its role as a Centre of Excellence for social and welfare needs. The house is one of the oldest buildings in Reading dating back to the 17th century and protected by its Grade ll* listed status.
The rear, western part of the building was built in 1688 for Samuel and Anna Watlington, whilst the eastern part, fronting onto Watlington Street, is said to date from 1763.
Weston + Co Architects were invited by the Trustees in 2016 to take studio space in the house as resident architect assisting with the evolution of the building and continuing the relationship between the building and local architectural practice.
Our Garden Room and Drawing Room are situated on the first floor and benefit from views over the formal garden.
